BIOS04 Fontiers in Ecology 7,5 ECTS credits

Course description

This course give you insights into a number of “hot” research areas of Ecology. Where is the cutting edge today? The course also deals with why different research fields of ecology have been ”popular” during different periods, and the reasons behind such trends. Which are the forces within and outside science?

Top scientists

You participate in seminars by sometimes world leading ecologists representing various research fields. In connection to each seminar selected scientific articles are read and discussed.

Literature project

One or more projects are done on themes like historical trends or interactions between disciplines, which are presented and discussed at seminars.

Examination

Examination is done throughout the course and includes evaluation of understanding, motivation and project works.

And then...

The course gives a broad overview of current ecological research, pure as well as applied, and thus facilitates an active participation in scientific as well as more societal discussions. The course will make the student well prepared for research studies in ecology and also for handling ecological questions in society.
